Meet the Team… Our Hive Kitchen team is headed up by our talented Head Chef and Operations Manager Barry George who’s background is wide and varied; including experience of working in Michelin starred restaurants. Supporting Barry is Giles Greening, who like Barry, has been at the Hive for over five years, and our former apprentice chef Hannah Clifford, who since graduating has gone on to contribute to and create dishes for the daily specials as well as coming up with ideas to zing up the sandwich and salad menu. And we have a new chef on the block, Artur Ulman who joined the kitchen team last month, so another great dynamic to add to the mix!

Barry says, “I take pride in using and sourcing seasonal, sustainable ingredients, discovering and keeping up with new food trends, as well as bringing my own blend of skills and expertise to the team. It’s great when the team come up with new dishes.  Above everything else I’m passionate about working in the kitchen, creating great food and innovative presentation.  I strive for professional, friendly service and work hard to inspire my team in the kitchen as well as the FOH Café staff ”. Since the new serving hatch and window was put in, you can watch them as they work preparing and cooking all the orders. It’s a fast and frenetic environment and very small considering the amount of food and covers that are prepared in there! But it works. So if you want to know more about the fish or any of dishes on the menu, then you can pop your head over the fish counter and ask…but please remember that although they are extremely enthusiastic, they’re also very busy during peak food service times!
