Burton Bradstock, nestling in the Bride valley, follows the meandering river down to coast forming part of the famous Chesil Bank. Much of this coast line is owned and managed by the National Trust, such as Golden Cap, the highest point along the south coast.

The rolling scenery, much loved by Thomas Hardy inspired him to write his most tragic and probably the finest of all his novels, Tess of the D'Urbervilles. The coastline continues to inspire with the BBC production of Harbour Lights.

The centre of the village is dominated by the 15th century church, St.Mary's with later thatched houses and cottages and two thatched pubs, Dove Inn and the Three Horse Shoes. Also highly recommended is the award winning Anchor Hotel with its famous chalk board menus. The village also contains a post office, shop, petrol station and garage and Hotel.
